What still needs a person on site?
Seating a confused group, fixing a stuck machine mid-session, calming down a drunk or rowdy customer late at night, and cleaning and restocking a room between guests all need someone physically there, fast. Machines can watch a hallway on camera, but they can't walk over and defuse a situation.
What's worth learning if you work this job?
Since headcount is thin, being the one person who can fix equipment, handle an upset customer, and reset a room quickly makes someone harder to cut than a single-task hire. Learning basic troubleshooting for the machines on-site and staying calm with late-night customers are the practical skills that keep a shift covered.
