A frontend developer turns a design file into working screens, then spends real time on edge cases: a slow connection, a tiny screen, a browser that renders things oddly. AI can already generate a component from a design, so the job shifts toward reviewing that output.

What part of building a screen does AI already do?

Turning a design file or a short prompt into a working component, including the layout and basic styling, is something an AI tool can already do directly. That has already cut into the straightforward building work, since a person no longer has to type out a standard screen from scratch to get a working draft.

What does a person still catch that AI misses?

Reconciling what a designer clearly wanted with what actually works on a real device, noticing that something feels half a beat too slow to a user, and chasing a bug that only shows up in one browser all take judgment a generated draft doesn't carry. Someone has to look at the result and decide if it's actually right.

What should someone learn to stay useful here?
