What part of robotics engineering does AI already handle?

Writing control code and running the simulations that predict how a robot should move and react used to be an engineer's own careful, time-consuming coding work. AI now writes a lot of that code and runs those simulations, which speeds up the design stage considerably before a robot ever leaves the lab.

Why does a robot still need a person once it's built?

A robot that behaves perfectly in simulation often misbehaves the moment it meets a messy real-world floor, and someone has to hand-tune it to actually work right there.
