French shares a lot with other language majors: AI already handles routine translation and interpreting well. What's different is the teaching path, the one job that usually holds up longest for a language major, because French enrollment has been shrinking in schools for years, leaving classes small enough for a district to swap for an online course instead.

Why doesn't French teaching get the same protection as Spanish teaching?
