Groups already stretched thin on funding are the ones most likely to lean on that instead of hiring another communications staffer.
Why does organizing still need people on the ground?
Getting people to actually turn out for a rally or a campaign event, building real trust and coalitions across communities that don't already know each other, and standing in front of an official or a company's representatives to press a demand in person all require someone people recognize and trust — none of that transfers to a drafted document.
What should someone in this field build?
Since office and content work is what AI absorbs first, time spent actually organizing in person and building real relationships across different communities is the more defensible skill here. Backgrounds in sociology, international relations, ethnic studies or gender studies all support this kind of organizing career.
